Right industrial policies has been identified as one of the major tools that can place Nigeria on the path of economic resurgence.

The Chairperson, Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation, Senator Uche Ekwunife stated this when she led a delegation of the Committee on oversight tour of Project Development Institute (PRODA) and Scientific Equipment Institute (SEDI-E) recently.

She also said that there is need for intentional investment in the science and technology sector.

According to her, there is need to focus on the efforts to move Nigeria from an import dependent nation to an export oriented country.

Senator Ekwunife stated that the task of reviewing and monitoring public sector organisations, their policies, plans, programs and products is an important function of the National Assembly.

In her Facebook page, she wrote;

“In line with this, in my capacity as the Chairman Senate committee on Science, Technology and Innovation, I led a delegation of my committee to the Project Development Institute (PRODA) and Scientific Equipment Development Institute (SEDI-E) to supervise the agencies in line with the committee’s mandate”,

“For Nigeria to be placed on the path of economic resurgence, we must make the right industrial policies and intentional investment in the science and technology sector”,

“Our target must be to produce what we consume and consume what we produce; moving our country from an import dependent nation to an export oriented country must remain our focus”.
