Chioma Ani Makes Nasarawa, Nigeria Proud As West African Ufak Karate Championship Ends In Burkina-Faso

Nasarawa State female Karate athlete, Chioma Ani, was among Nigeria’s medalists at the just-concluded 19th edition of the West African UFAK Karate Championship held from 2nd to 7th August, 2022, in Ouagadougou, Burkina-Faso.

Chioma who won Gold medal for Team Nasarawa at last year’s National Sports Festival in Benin City, Edo State, took her phenomenal instincts to the regional championship, winning Gold Medal for Nigeria in the Women’s +68kg Kumite Category.

Nigeria’s Karate contingent was led by Coach Amenze Jude-Atoe, and they featured in the Senior Women’s Category, finishing 3rd overall best, winning a total of seven medals, comprising three Gold, three Silver and one Bronze medals, respectively,with the Nasarawa State prodigy, Chioma Ani, being the talking points at the event.

Hosts, Burkina-Faso, with a 72-man athletes participants, came first position, winning a total of 63 medals, while Ivory Coast, with a 36-man contingent, emerged 2nd position, with a total of 38 medals.

Nine West African Countries took part in the five-day championship.
