It’s a harvest of medals of various categories for Team Nasarawa Taekwondo who are presently participating at the 15th Panamai(West Africa) and Cottage Mills Open Taekwondo Championship in Lagos.

The team  have so far scooped six medals, including three Gold, one Silver and two Bronze, respectively.

Ihuo Laady Louisa won Gold in the -49kg Women’s Senior category after beating her Delta State counterpart, Blessing Peter.

Mildred Monday towed Ihuo’s path as she also defeated Sikiru Opeyemi from Lagos State in the Junior -52kg category.

Earlier, Agada Elijah picked the Gold medal ahead of his Lagos State counterpart in the Poomsae event.

Also, Emmanuel Kasimu Ayaka settled for Silver medal after losing in the final of the -45kg category to his Abia State counterpart, Chukwu Sopara.

The duo of Maria Raphael and Bashir Musa Usman
won one Bronze medal each in the Women’s -46kg and Men’s -63kg Senior Categories after losing their fight to their Kebbi and Oyo States’ opponents.

The pair had earlier defeated their Benin Republic and Togolese fighters in the quarter-finals enroute to the semi-finals before settling for the bronze medal.

With more games expected today(Sunday) and tomorrow(Monday) before the curtains are drawn, there are glimmers of hope for Team Nasarawa to increase their medal haul in a Championship that features States of the Federation as well as neighbouring West African Countries.

Events are being competed for in the Cadets, Junior and Senior Categories.

Team Nasarawa led by Coach Lois Jerry is featuring in events in the Junior and Senior Categories.

The championship which began on Wednesday, 10th August, 2022, will climax on Monday, 15th August.
