Distribution of over 3.8million insecticides treated mosquito nets will commence in all local government Areas of Anambra State from 7th August to 17th 2022.
This was disclosed by the State commissioner for health, Dr Afam obidike who was represented by the Head of department of public health and disease control Dr Afam Anaeme during a media orientation.
He explained that the exercise Which was done last in 2014 in the state was being sponsored in collaboration of the Anambra State government and malaria consortium with support from Givewell open philanthropic funding.
He informed that the governor of the state Prof chukwuma soludo has earlier flagged off the exercise yesterday and had provided every logistics needed for the distribution exercise in the state.
In their separate speeches, the state malaria program manager Mr Nonso Ndibe and the technical worksroom advisor Dr TiTi Akinlalu explained that there is need for people to inculcate the habit of sleeping inside treated mosquito nets.
They said it help reduce the spread of malaria which causes high deaths rate annually in Nigeria.
They therefore enjoined the media to make malaria issues a front burner in their health stories and program as well as participate in monitoring the exercise to help put an end to some challenges that may likely occur.
