In line with its strategic collaboration drive, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command has pledged to assist Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command in its drive to ensure safety and overall good usage of roads.

Mr. Isidore Chukwudi Chikere, Anambra State Commandant stated this today when he visited Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, the Sector Commander, FRSC at his office in Awka in continuation of his familiarizing visit to sister agencies.

The visit which was targeted at broadening and sustaining the existing collaboration with the FRSC afforded the State Commandant an opportunity to appreciate the agency for doing their best towards minimizing road crashes on our highway.

Mr Chikere during his speech said “I have considered it appropriate to visit your office today as part of my tour to sister agencies across the state. Firstly, I want to appreciate your kind response to my request for courtesy visit, as a newly deployed State Commandant”,

“It is necessary I move around to see and fraternize my self with service commanders on ground in other to cement the existing relationship between us. I am aware NSCDC and FRSC have been collaborating before now, but my coming is to reassure you that the long standing synergy between us will continue to be safeguarded”.

“It is our collective responsibility to make our roads better and safer. You can always count on me whenever you need our services in achieving your desired goals”, he assured.

The NSCDC State boss who used the visit to advocate for improved intelligence sharing among sister agencies , appealed to road users to develop and maintain good road culture, abide safety rules and obey road safety guidelines.

Responding, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi , the Anambra State FRSC Sector Commander who was with his high ranking officers to receive the State Commandant, thanked him for finding time to pay him a visit.

The Corps Commander stated clearly that the safety of road is everybody’s business just like the security of lives and property.

He added that most crime perpetrators use the road to their destination as such collaborating with NSCDC will go a long way in curbing crime in the State.

“FRSC and NSCDC have come a long way in collaboration especially in Anambra State, so we are ever ready to give all necessary support to make the relationship stronger, ” he stated

Mr. Irelewuyi appealed to the State NSCDC Commandant to assist the agency for effective enforcement of clampdown on all unregistered motorbikes and Keke in the National Vehicle Identification Scheme database noting that the move would help to curb insecurity in the country.

He enumerated some of the ongoing activities of the command such like public enlightenment, advocacy visits and engagement of communities on the need to keep the roads safe and ensure safety of road users.
