The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) is still in deep shock over the death of the former Chairman of the Kano State Chapter of the Association, *Mike Unukere Oboh* who passed on last week after a protracted illness.
According to the press release signed by the Secretary General Mr Jude Opara, SWAN President, Sir Honour Sirawoo who received the sad news with deep regrets, described Oboh as a very jovial personality who easily drew people close to him with his huge sense of humour.
He described the late Oboh as a consummate journalist who left his footprints on the annals of sports journalism in the country.
Sir Sirawoo also noted that as Kano SWAN Chairman, late Oboh contributed immensely to the development of sports just as he also did when he moved over to Abuja and became a member of the FCT chapter of the Association.
“It is always very painful when we lose very close friends and associates. Honestly the passing of *Mike* is very unfortunate given that this is a young and promising professional who gave his all to the development of sports in the country. We sincerely commiserate with his family at this trying time.”
The president also urged members of the Association especially those in Abuja and Edo state to key into the burial programme as already released by the family to pay their last respect to the fallen colleague.
According to the burial arrangements, on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, there will be a Wake-keep at his residence, Twins House, beside Deeper Life Bible Church, Jikwoyi Phase 4, Abuja. Time is 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
