The Member Representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly, Hon. Chief Benjamin C Obidigwe has called on mother’s to use the annual August Meeting effectively to promote peace and moral values.
He made the call while felicitating with Christian Mothers in Anambra East and West Federal Constituency on the occasion of their 2022 annual August meeting .
While describing the annual August meeting of Mothers as one of the most essential gathering where they deliberate on issues regarding the development of the church and the society at large , Obidigwe however enjoined them to use their good standing as Mothers towards fighting early child mariage amongst their female children.
He said early girl child marriage has contributed in the increasing cases of divorce, lack of skills acquisition and other unethical standard in the society today.
He advised that they should be allowed to acquire minimum educational qualifications and possibly learn a skill to enable them become self reliant even in mariage.
The Federal lawmaker While appreciating Mothers for prompting peaceful co-existence in the society through series of engagement with the political actors, traditional rulers and the clergies also urged them to promote moral values within the family level especially as it concerns their children.
He said that every society is a product of the family pointing out that no society can adequately survive without the impact and involvement of Mothers as their role towards the development of every society cannot be overemphasised.
He therefore wished them well and prayed for God’s grace, ,wisdom and protection as they shall be concluding this year’s August meeting in few days to come .
