The Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League, Aisha Falode, has commended the players and coaches of the national Under-20 Women’s national soccer team, the Super Falconets for the great performances at the ongoing Under-20 World Cup in Costa Rica despite the teams ouster from the competition at the quarter finals.
Falode, was full of plaudicts for the young and enterprising Falconets and the coaching crew led by Christopher Danjuma.
She noted that with the class showed by the team, it is evident that, the future is bright for the players and indeed the team.
“We are proud of them, as they gave a good account of themselves, which was a huge plus for the country, Nigeria.
“We are looking forward to seeing them graduate and compete for jerseys in the Super Falcons in the nearest future. A clear indication that the future is very bright for the senior Women national team, the Super Falcons.”
The NWFL boss lamented the hard luck encountered by the Falconets in their quarter final match against the Netherlands bowing 2-0 in a game dominated by the Nigerian girls. The girls were just unlucky not to score goals.
Falode urged the Falconets players to continue to show discipline, respect, commitment and dedication to the game and country.
“We are proud of them at the NWFL, as the team to Costa Rica was made up of youngsters from the Nigeria Women Football League. This showed the great organisational prowess of the local league and the great tendesies to discover and develop world class talents for the women’s national teams. It is a greater joy to see that the coaches are also top handlers of clubs in the NWFL. The future is very bright.”
