Chibueze Ohiri, Nnewi United rampant forward has revealed that the Anaedo Lions are not in Enugu for sight seeing but to compete and take home the Tico/Select Preseason Tournament trophy.
Ohiri has scored twice so far in the tournament, including a last gasp strike that handed the second tier domestic league side a hefty 3-0 emphatic win against Golden United Academy FC in Friday’s first semi final match.
With the likelihood of a final confrontation against giants and tournament title favourites and NPFL side, Rangers, Ohiri declared in no unclear terms that they are not fretting about meeting any team.
“We fear no foes”, Ohiri declared after the pulsating semi final fixture Friday afternoon.
“We’re here for the tournament with a single objective of taking the trophy home to,Nnewi.
“So, playing against Rangers in the final won’t worry us.
“We’re prepared and our confidence is growing with every single match.
“We’ll give it our best shot and I believe we’ve what it,takes to win and go home with the trophy”, the youngster enthused.
Interestingly, Nnewi United coach, Ben Okaro, an ex Nigeria International, is also an ex Rangers.
If it turns out to be an Nnewi United/Rangers final, it will provide another angle of attractive dimension to the game as Okaro stands on the dug out against his childhood club in a decisive clash .
