The Chairman of Abia Warriors FC, Pastor Emeka Inyama, has confirmed the club’s participation in the 2022 Ifeanyi Ekwueme Tico/Select Preseason Tournament, Newspathfinder.com reports.
The 14-team tournament is slated to hold in Asaba and Enugu from October 20.
Inyama spoke in Umuahia Friday during his unveiling by the organisers as Ambassadors of the tournament.
“Abia Warriors will take part in the (Ifeanyi Ekwueme Tico/Select Preseason) tournament”, he said.
The veteran sports journalist and former COJA Marketing head added that the tournament will aid his team’s preparation ahead the 2022/2023 NPFL season.
The Founding Editor-in-Chief of National Sportslink newspapers also promised to be present during the tournament.
Similarly, former Nigeria international, Karibe Ojigwe was also unveiled by the Tico/Select Preseason organisers as a Legend of the game.
Ojigwe is a serving Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Abia State.
Abia Warriors are logged in group A of the tournament which has other teams as Rivers United, Bayelsa United, Nnewi United, Ingas FC, Lamry FC and Apex Krane FC.
Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State, is venue for group A matches as well as the finals.
Group B matches is Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, with teams as Enyimba, Plateau United, Niger Tornadoes, Excellent FC, A&A Kiviasennus Palvelut FC and Golden United Football Academy.
