The Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Nkiru Theresa Meludu has called on fresh undergraduate students of the Faculty to focus on their studies so as to graduate with good grades at the end of their four-year stay in the institution.

Prof. Meludu made the remarks while advising the freshers on Friday during the occasion of the 2021/22 Matriculation Ceremony held at the Faculty of Agriculture Building.

Prof. Meludu reminded the students that the Matriculation ceremony is the formal admittance for them into the ‘University of the Moment’ even as they have been inundated on the various facets of the University operations, it’s physical environment, rules, regulations and ethos.

The scholar highlighted some of the obligations in the course of their studentship as payment of fees, attendance to lectures, as well to shun negative acts such as Examination Misconduct, Certificate Forgery, cultism and other vices that can be tantamount to dismissal from the Ivory Tower.

The Professor of Agricultural Economics and Extension congratulated them for gaining admission into UNIZIK and also prayed that they would be found worthy in character and learning to be conferred with a degree of the University at the end of their stay in the institution.

Highpoints of the occasion were the Declaration of loyalty by the Matriculants, taking of Oath against Secret Cults, presentation of matriculating students by the Heads of the seven Departments in alphabetical order and signing of the matricula.

Present at the event were the former Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ernest Igwe; Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor on Land Resources Management, Prof. Peter Nnabude; Faculty Administrative Officer, Mr. Chika Anor ably represented by Mr. Chinemelum Nwuzor; Heads of the various Departments domiciled in the Faculty, Professors, other teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, guardians, matriculating students, friends and well-wishers.

This year’s matriculation ceremony was Faculty based with the 12 Faculties holding the ceremony in the Awka Campus of the institution.
