The Maureen Mmadu Kiddies have parked their bags ready to head home after a successful 10-day tourney in Morocco.
The team’s training tour of Morocco came to a fitting end on Sunday in an eruption of glory.
The 16-year-olds being put together by former Super Falcons midfielder rounded of their four-match tour of the North African country with a 2-0 spanking of Anwar Almostkbal in Casablanca.
Damilola Adebode gave the Nigerian girls a deserved first half lead with a stunning drive 25 minutes after kick off.
The MMKC damsels held on till half time with captain Juliet Egbunam doubling the visitors advantage 10 minutes before the final whistle.
The victory, as precious as it turned out, proved a soothing balm to a side that lost its first game 4-1, drew the second 2-2 and lost the third 6-0.
Coach Maureen Mmadu, a former Nigeria international, would express fury over the quality of oppositions her girls were forced to deal with in all the games.
“The organisers made us to believe we were coming to play our U16 girls mates.
“In our first three games, we had 30-year-olds as opponents and this is bad.
“I had to hand them a stern warning that should they present a team of over-aged players, we won’t play.
“Even at that, the Anwar Almostkbal team were of 20 years of age.
“In any case, the games were a learning curve for the girls and I’m happy they responded well and learned therefrom too”, Mmadu said.
The Moroccan trip was put together after the team missed the 2022 Dana Cup in Denmark over visa-related issues.
