The Anambra state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has accused the opposition parties of bribing those they described as fake youth members of the party with the sum of N20 million to blackmail the party.
Recall that some youths who claim to be members of the party had protested against non release of funds for the Presidential campaign of Sen. Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
According to the spokesman of the party Dr Charles Izuchukwu Nzegwu who in a release to reporters in Awka said the protesters are not members of the party adding that it is a ploy to blackmail it’s Presidential candidate.
“The masqueraders also alleged that funds meant for Campaigns have been highjacked by the leadership of the Council.”
“Much as I do not want to join issues with those faceless elements or to be distracted by the antics of these fifth columnists, it is instructive to state categorically the following positions for the purposes of clarity;”
“From my best of knowledge as a good party man, the campaign council since it’s inception has been running an all-inclusive organization and in consultation with the leadership of the party both youth and women wings in piloting the affairs of the party and campaign.’
“Equally the Campaign Council in the discharge of it’s duties rely on the National leadership when it had to do with funding.”
“That the allegations of the faceless youth body are the machinations of the opposition parties who are apprehensive of the rising profile of the party since the Campaign Council came into the saddle.”
“That some people who claim to be members of the party that have been feeding fat through sustaining the already resolved crisis in the party are no longer benefiting from their pay masters whose stuck in trade is to throw the spanners into the good works and peace in the party.”
“It is important to note that those allegations are aimed of accusing our Presidential candidate of money politics and vote buying and to ultimately brand him as a vote buyer which is a white lie as he is carrying on with the campaigns within the stipulations of the Electoral Act and the Constitution.”
“That all these allegations are tailored towards distracting the already secured victory of the party in Anambra state.”
“We have it on good knowledge that the sum of twenty million was paid to some youths who claimed to be members of the youth wing of the party to disrupt the activities of the party and the Campaign Council.”
“That all members of our party the APC and the general public are by this medium urged to discountenance those rumors and spurious allegations as they speak volumes of the plot by some political parties to run the image of the party and the Campaign Council down”. he said.
