Nkpor Town Emerge Champions Of Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi Unity Cup

Nkpor Town over the weekend defeated Obosi Community by a lone goal to emerge Champions of fourth edition of the annual Honourable Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi Unity Cup competition.

A beauty of a finish from Ugochukwu Agu in the 28th minute of a very cagey but entertaining contest played at the Civic Centre field Eziowelle made the difference in the seventeen-team competition.

The annual competition is bankrolled by the APC candidate for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency for the upcoming 2023 General Elections.

Nkpor claimed the grand prize of N500,000 while Obosi settled for N300,000 with Nnokwa who obliterated Uke by four goals to one in the third and fourth placed playoffs played earlier in the day got a consolation prize of N200,000.

Other individual awards were the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award which went to Song Muoghalu of Nkpor with a cash prize of N20,000.

FearGod Ndukwe of Nnokwa also got N20,000 for emerging as the Highest Goal Scorer while Eziowelle town were declared the Best Behaved team.

Chidi Obigwe who played for Nkpor claimed the award for the Best Goalkeeper while Obosi’s Patrick Edward won the Best Defender gong award with each getting N20,000 for their heroics.

Decoration of the teams and individual awardees formed the high points of the occasion while a minute silence was held before the commencement of the final match in honour of the late President-General of Obosi Community, Hon. Ike Okolo.

Also present during the grand finale were the Chairman, Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA), Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi; Proprietor of Ozalla FC, Ikenna Osueke; President of Golden Child Football Academy, Emeka Ikezu.

Former Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism in the state and current Director-General Hon. Ibezi campaign organization, Chief Tony Onyima; SA to Hon. Ibezi on Sports Development, Ebuka Okeke; APC candidate Idemili North Constituency for the State House of Assembly, Hon. Sir Chibuzo Okeke, politicians, APC party faithfuls and teeming football followers in Eziowelle and beyond were also present.
