Zamfara Governor Assures Of Implementing N30,000 Minimum Wage By November

The Governor of Zamfara State, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has assured labour leaders that his administration would implement the N30,000 minimum wage by the end of November, 2022.

According to Daily Post Nigeria, the Governor disclosed this when the state leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) paid him a courtesy visit at Government House Gusau, the state capital.

Governor Matawalle said that his administration has the feelings of the entire workers in the state as a former civil servant, hence the decision of his government to provide all the necessary entitlements to the workers.

“My administration will start implementing the N30,000 national minimum wage to the entire civil servants in the state by November, 2022,” he said.

Matawalle said that the uplift of workers and pensioners will continue to be accorded top priority by his administration in order to meet their for effective service delivery.

The Governor called on the organised labour in the state to help the government by blocking all leakages and fraudulent acts among the civil servants for it to provide all the needed support and welfare of the workers.

On the payment of gratuity to retired civil servants, Governor Matawalle said the state government will effect the full payments as soon as deductions from the state funds were stopped by December, this year.

According to him, his administration will build a befitting Labour House in Gusau, the state capital to enhance activities of the NLC and the Trade Union Congress as well as the organised labour in the state.

He announced that the state government has concluded arrangements to provide foodstuffs to the entire civil servants in the state on loan at a very subsidized prices.

Earlier, the state chairman of the NLC, Comrade Sani Halliru, and his counterpart in the Trade Union Congress TUC, Comrade Saidu Mudi Allahuwa said they were at the Government House to express their appreciation to the Governor for his approval to implement the N30,000 national minimum wage.

The meeting was attended by the former Minister of Finance who doubles as the Chairman of the National minimum wage implementation committee in Zamfara State, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda Gusau, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe Sardauna.

Others include Chief of Staff Government House, Malam Ibrahim Suleiman; State Head of Service, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Gayari; Deputy Chief of Staff Government House, Comrade Jalaluddeen Maradun; Commissioners of Information and Special duties, Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara; and Alhaji Abdulaziz Ahmed Nahuce.

The Special Adviser on Labour Matters and Political Affairs to the Governor, Comrade Bello Galadima Durumbu was also in attendance.
