Notwithstanding the untold hardship and sufferings of Nigerians occasioned by successive bad leadership, Prof. Oby Lilian Orogbu has expressed optimism that Nigeria’s economy would soon be transformed to reflect the ‘Giant of Africa’ status it answers.

Prof. Orogbu gave this assurance in her Independence message to Nigerians in Awka, the Anambra state capital.

The Labour Party candidate for Awka North and South Federal Constituency,  also reacted on the state of the economy and polity as Nigeria marks 62 years of independence.

According to the professor of human resource management, “We are still in the cage of bad leadership, lack of purpose and commitment from our leaders. We cannot continue to remain in the dungeon especially after all the efforts of our heroes’ past to secure independence for us”.

“However, there is still hope for the nation especially as the 2023 general elections draw closer. This is the time Nigerians must rise up and take the bull by the horn by ensuring that Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi and other Labour Party candidates are supported throughout the electioneering period”, she said.

“This is wishing Nigerians, especially the good people of Awka North and South Federal Constituency, a happy Independence Anniversary, and to urge us to persevere for a while more as Nigeria’s morning will soon come”, she said
