The management of Imo Angels Football Club of Owerri has congratulated newly elected Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau and members of his Executive Committee on their emergence as the 2022 NFF elections held in Benin City, Edo State on Friday.

A statement signed by the club’s Proprietress, Ms Jenny Anusiem, described the election of Gusau as the next President of the Football House as a worthy reward for his loyalty and also a square peg in a square hole given his wealth of experience in the administration of football over the years.

Ms Anusiem averred that the election of Ibrahim Gusau was expected because he has shown himself diligent and creditable in his previous role as Chairman of Chairmen of the immediate past Executive Committee and his role as CAF Security and Committee member.

While praying for an eventful tenure for the newly elected President and his Executive Committee members, Imo Angels FC owner urged him to hit the ground running by ensuring that he reposition Nigerian football to greater heights.

“We at Imo Angels heartily felicitate with you, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau over your election as the NFF President in a peaceful and well coordinated election held in Benin City. We are happy that the wish of God has prevailed and are wishing you well as you start the process of taking Nigerian football to the next level,” Anusiem said in a press statement signed by her.

“We are glad to hear from you that it is your target to unite the football family together. We pray that God guide you in all the steps you take and help you achieve your set goals and objectives.

“We also want to appreciate all members of your Executive Committee for their contributions towards the development of football in the country and pray that God help them to bring up quality ideas and programmes which will help to take Nigerian football to more than the next level.

In a related development, Imo Angels FC is also rejoicing with Felix Anyansi Agwu and Aisha Falode over their election as the First Vice President and Executive Committee members of the NFF.

The Club’s supremo, added that the election of Anyansi Agwu and Falode is a manifestation of their hard work and commitment to duty over the years having taking Enyimba FC to an enviable height in Nigeria and in Africa. She also thumbed up the wonderful work done by Falode as the Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League.

Ms Anusiem also noted that the experience garnered by Anyansi Agwu as a board member in the previous Executive Committee and the various standing committees and capacities he served have helped prepare him for the tasks ahead.

She prayed for God’s guidance as both assumed the new role. She nonetheless appealed to the Enyimba FC chairman not to forget his role in the area of development of football in the South East zone and also to bring all the aggrieved stakeholders in the zone together.

She also admonished Falode to use her wealth of experience she has garnered as the helmsman of the women league to ensure the new NFF Executive Committee hits the ground running immediately.
