Heartland Queens Center back, Onyedikachi Ekezie is upbeat for a convincing victory for her side against the visitors, Confluence Queens.

The Owerri landladies will play host to the Confluence City side in Wednesday’s NWFL Premiership matchday 4 matchup at the main bowl of Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.

The top flights have met once in a competitive game, the Federation Cup round of 32 clash with the homers all smiles on the occasion and will be meeting each other for the first time ever in the league.

Ekezie said her teammates are on same page to make their home ground a fortress for other visiting sides in the ongoing topflight.

“I remember we overpowered them early in the year at the Federation Cup round of 32 clash, and we will be meeting them for the first time in the league, I am confident that we will beat them again this time in the league. Our team work and spirit is high, and I believe at the end of 90 minutes we will be all smiles.

“I believe in my teammates, the goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and attackers, we are on same page and good to go. We have prepared our minds to give our all to the match, and we have prepared our minds, too to win the game, all of us are good to go.

“Yes, our first match on this pitch ended up in sweet victory for us and this pitch will give us another win on Wednesday.

“We have resolved to make this ground a fortress for other visiting teams. We just want to keep the sanctity of this ground, that’s our dreams,” said the strong built and no nonsense defender to the club media.

The lanky strong woman said her side are further motivated to go for a resounding victory against the visitors so that the Owerri mainstreams will climb to the top of the group’s log for keep.

“Yes, I have the belief that once we beat Confluence Queens on Wednesday we will have the chance to climb to the top and once we achieve the feat this time around we will not let go of it till we grab the Super Six ticket.

“Of course, playing in our first time ever Super Six is our target, that’s our target and the players are in agreement with it,” said the gentle hard-as-nails defender.

The Owerri side are third on the eight-team Group A log on six points from possible nine one behind the challengers, Confluence Queens as well as the leaders, Nasarawa Amazons.
