A new beautiful colour has been added to one of the oldest community leagues in Anambra state, the Nanka Champions League with the presentation of footballs to the participating teams.
The championship recorded yet another novel development as the organizers unveiled an official website, a move to ensure digitalization.
The website http://www.nankachampionsleague.com will provide relevant information about the history of the well organized championship.
Representatives of the eleven branches of Nkpor, Umuahia, Kwara, Benin, Lagos student, Nanka undergraduates, Ota, Bayelsa and Onitsha received two balls each. Kano was absent but their balls were kept for them to make sure no team missed out.
Speaking before the presentation exercise, the chairman of Nanka Football Association (NAFA) Mr Uche Ezechukwu informed that the balls were provided by Nanka football patriots.
He enjoined the participating teams to ensure compliance to the rules of the game.
Also speaking, another member of the organizing team, Engr Akonam Obiefuna advised them to embrace the new positive changes coming to the championship.
The chairman YUSFON Anambra state said that the introductions are aimed at improving the standard of football administration in Nanka.
He made it clear that the new face of Nanka Champions league will not tolerate indiscipline in any guise.
Earlier in his speech, the chairman, Nigeria Referees Association, Orumba North Chapter Rev. Fr. Chris Umeojirinnaka enjoined the teams to play by the rules, be open to decisions, embrace peace and show respect to the referees.
He warned against lateness to scheduled matches as entrance into the pitch signals readiness and not walking about or jogging around the stadium.
There was an agreement that fifteen minutes late after the scheduled time attracts walkover.
The championship sponsored in the last 39 years by Chief Poly Emenike has N1.5 million as the star prize. The second placed team will go home with N900,000 while the third placed team will receive N600,000.
