The Chairman, Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima has commended Delta State for the top-notch facilities, planning and organization put in place towards hosting the 21st edition of the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF) tagged ‘Delta 2022’ holding at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Delta State.

Galadima made the remarks while fielding questions from sports writers on monday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium complex.

The former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expressed his satisfaction on the level of preparedness of the state taking into account the situation on ground before the festival proper.

“I must commend Delta State for the facilities in place and organization on ground which is marvelous. Hosting more than 14,000 athletes and officials is not an easy task, you can expect to have few hitches but despite that we give them credit for keeping to their promise of hosting the festival,” Galadima said.

On the state’s contingent performance, the Chairman Kano Pillars FC says they are committed to the course by competing well and giving a very good account of themselves at Nigeria’s version of the Olympic Games.

“We are satisfied so far with our performance taking into account the nature of our preparations before the festival as there was postponement of some events notably para-sports which affected our preparations and a big concern to us based on our plans for the athletes”,

“However, we thank God that we were able to come here and have a good showing so far. We still have some strong areas that we are looking forward to seeing positive results,” he said.

Alhaji Galadima said that they are poised towards eclipsing the record they had at the last NSF hosted by Edo State as its a natural phenomenon wanting to better your performance in any given competition.

He also pointed out that Kano State remains a force in team sports such as volleyball, basketball and handball with the state retaining the status of being the defending champions in Handball in the past 3 to 4 years.

He thanked the Government of Kano State under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Umah Ganduje for his support to sports in the state, he said the Team Kano contingent wants to better their performance at this year’s festival to use that as a parting gift for the Governor come 2023.
