Team Anambra on Wednesday featured in the state contingent’s colourful parade as part of activities to mark the opening ceremony of the 21st edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF) held at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, Delta State.
Anambra were adorned in their traditional all yellow outfits and were led by the Director of Sports, Faith Okwonna as they participated in the march past alongside other states in the federation and the Federal Capital Territory receiving the salute from the number one citizen of Delta State, H.E. Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the Minister, Federal Ministry of Youth And Sports, Hon. Sunday Dare.
The 100-member contingent who were part of the parade danced, sang and echoed the name of their state in joy and great euphoria when the name was mentioned as the light of the nation and a state known for its prowess in commerce, industrialization and human capital development via sports.
Team Anambra being led by the new man at the helm of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Hon. Patrick Estate Onyedum as the Chairman, landed Asaba on Tuesday afternoon for the 21st NSF with 249-member contingent made up of athletes and officials who are set to feature in twenty-four sporting events at the biggest sports programme in the land.
Anambra at the last edition of the National Sports Festival hosted by Edo State finished 17th on the medal’s log with 6 Gold, 9 Silver and 22 Bronze medals.
