The Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof Charles Esimone has commended the effort of the university to continue to serve as human resource pool for various agencies of both states and federal government.
The university within the period of strike had many of her academic staff appointed into various government agencies as well as some non-state organizations.
During a chat with our Correspondent, the Vice Chancellor enumerated the proud export of the university to include Prof. Offonze Amucheazi and Prof Sylvia Ifemeje both from the Faculty Of Law serving in the Anambra state Executive Council as Commissioner for Lands and Attorney-General and commissioner for Justice respectively.
Others appointed into other agencies of government are Prof Nkechi Ikediugwu as Chairperson, Anambra State Post Primary School Service Commission and Professor Au. Nnonyelu as member, Anambra state Education Advisory Council.
Outside Anambra Anambra state, Prof Esimone informed that Prof Emmanuel Umezinwa of the Department of Music and Special Adviser to the VC (Academic) has been appointed the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the new Peter University, Achina while Prof. Au. Nnonyelu has been appointed as the pioneer Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of same university.
A staff from the Department of Religion and Human Relations, Rev. M. O. Nwakanma has been consecrated Methodist Bishop of Awka. Also Prof I.C. Uzochukwu was nominated and screened for appointment as Resident Electoral Commissioner.
Dr Naomi Samuel and Dr Nelson Omenugha were appointed by the Anambra state government as member state Universal Basic Education Board and Special Adviser to the governor on Youth Empowerment Program respectively.
The Vice Chancellor informed that outside Nigeria, Prof. Obi Oguejiofor was appointed Vice Chancellor, Olivia University Bujumbura, Burundi.
Elated Prof. Esimone said that the appointments reflect the confidence reposed on Nnamdi Azikiwe University to, at all times provide competent personnel in all sectors of human endeavors, consequent on the creditable performances of those appointed to date.
