The management of Plateau United Football Club of Jos has confirmed Sunday the 9th as the date for its second-round, first-leg tie against Esperance of Tunisia.
The club in a statement said that the confirmation became necessary to clear the doubt about date adding that the club has been playing its home matches on Sundays, same as continental matches.
The statement signed by the club’s media officer, Albert Dakup states that the date of Saturday, 8th October being bandied around on social and conventional media is not the official date as CAF has indeed confirmed Sunday, October 9th, 2022 as the date for the first leg while the second leg will take place on Friday 14th October 2022 at the Stade Olympique de Rades in Tunisia.
” In 2018 and 2020 when we flew Nigeria’s flag in the CAF Champions League, we played all our home matches on Sundays, except the encounter against USM of Algeria which we played on Saturday at the Agege Stadium in Lagos in 2018.
The statement appeals to the general public and the club’s loyal fans to disregard Saturday’s date going around on social and conventional media and come out en mass to support the team to victory come Sunday at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
