Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, on Tuesday, was presented with the Achievers’ Award as “Youth-Friendly and Supportive Personality of the Year.”
According to the Coordinator of Face of Democracy, Nasarawa State, Comrade Samuel Yakubu Alkali, the award was in appreciation of the efforts of the Honourable Commissioner towards the activities of the body, youth advocacy and related programmes across the State.
He explained that part of the aims of the Organization is to encourage women participation in politics, gender equality and youth advocacy, which was what gave rise to its programme in August this year, with focus on Women’s Participation in Politics, where the Commissioner was represented by the SSA to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Youth Development, Rt. Hon. Shuaibu Sani.
In his remarks, the Commissioner, Amb. Yargwa, thanked the leadership of the Organization for finding him worthy for the recognition.
He commended the Group for identifying with the Ministry and its staff, describing the award as a booster to do more in meeting up with its mandate of establishment.
The Commissioner revealed that the Management and Staff of the Ministry have been working as a team which is the secret behind its success story.
While calling on youth across boards to turnout en masse to re-elect Governor Abdullahi Sule and other flag bearers of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2023 General Elections, the Commissioner promised to continue to lend necessary support to the Group to enable it attain its goals.
On his part, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Isah Mohammed Eyah, noted that Face of Democracy, Nasarawa State, is on a noble cause to close the gaps in political participation and further draw Government’s attention to demonstrate the place of women and young persons in governance.
He urged the Group to sustain its advocacy for a better society.
He affirmed that the Ministry would continue to accord activities that pertain to the youth all the deserved attention for better productivity.
The event also had in attendance, line Directors of the Ministry.
Part of the award ceremony was the presentation of the Organization’s medium sized copy of Magazine which also contains vital information about the Commissioner.
