Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on Wednesday, 14th December 2022 commissioned the Centre for Development and ICT built by the APGA Candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial zone in the 2023 general election, Hon. Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo domiciled at Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka LGA.
The capacity of the centre is for 250 computers equipped with 150 fully installed and functional systems expected to provide employment for the youths of the benefactor’s constituency and by extension Anambra Central Senatorial zone.
The skills development and acquisition section of the building has 9 units ranging from cosmetology, food processing, wood work, fashion and design, hair dressing, confectionaries, photography, security system and surveillance as well as interior decoration and civil finishing.
In his remarks, Governor Soludo eulogized Hon. Nwankwo for his magnanimity in putting in place the ICT centre which will promote Human Capital Development by providing jobs for the teeming youths of his constituency and the state at large.
He called on other well meaning individuals in the state to emulate the kind gesture of the legislature.
Gov. Soludo emphasized that 97 percent of the state income is in private sector pocket, he disclosed that Anambra requires massive partnership with the private sector in the mould of public community private partnership to achieve its goals and aspiration.
According to the benefactor and member representing Njikoka, Anaocha and Dunukofia at the Federal House of representatives, the ICT Hub is fully equipped with modern facilities for ICT experience and trainings for skills development and acquisition.
“In an age where the world is becoming a global village, every effort must be made to provide ICT facility for our people, that is why I took up the construction and equipping of this project as my widow’s mite in skills development, acquisition and ICT for my constituency”,
“The site, physical and other structures were wholly funded by me while the present set of 150 computers, the furniture, the bus and the standby generator were sourced from my zonal intervention funds”,
“This is also an opportunity to plead with the number one citizen of the state to consider partnering with the centre and use it for government ICT trainings, CBT examinations, skill development, acquisition and any other activity deemed appropriate,” he said.
Highpoints of the occasion include, the cutting of the ribbon and commissioning by His Excellency, Prof. Soludo, prayers and blessing of the centre by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor.
