Anambra State Ministry of Health has bagged 3 National Tuberculosis awards from the Federal Ministry of Health National Tuberculosis Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer Control Programme Department of Public Health.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike reiterated the commitment of Gov. Charles Soludo led administration of supporting his ministry to improve the healthcare sector of the state.
Dr. Obidike attributed the awards bagged by the Tuberculosis Department in his Ministry to hard work of TB programme Coordinator, his team as well as government’s strong commitment to ensure the public benefits from all health programs across the state.
“I have no doubt with your team, your ability to deliver in the state TB program, just like the governor said this year has been a very good year in terms of health interventions and providing our people with quality healthcare services.
“This award will encourage all of us to do more next year and I urge everyone to remain committed in discharging their duties.
“As a leader you take responsibility and I must say that in TB you people have done well to deserve these awards from the National”, he said.
State TB Programme Coordinator, Dr. Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu, said that the state bagged the awards as best in Childhood TB contribution, Second highest in X-ray Utilization and the third award was for improving in Case finding by 35 per cent and above.
“It happened that every year we always come home with several awards and this year we have done it again with 3 awards.
“Every year we increase our case finding especially quarter by quarter and we have never dropped down in terms of TB case finding in the state.
“So, we are doing our best to ensure that we mop up our cases so that people suffering from TB will be identified for treatment and we are always on ground to make sure things are being done in the field. (MOI)
