Igwe Nanka YSFON U-17 Championship Moves To Round Of Sixteen

The Igwe Nanka Anambra YSFON U-17 tournament will this weekend move into round of sixteen in eight centers across the state.

The Championship which began in July had the last group matches played last weekend.

In the last group matches played, Hopeland FC, Nnewi defeated Young Barcelona FC Ozubulu 3-0, Egbe FC Ihiala beat Harvest FC Nnewi 2-0 while Solar Spiders FC Nibo submitted to Dynamic Sports Academy Agulu-Uzoigbo 0-3 following a walk-over.

Chukwudinigbo FC, Amansea humbled Obeledu United FC, Obeledu 4-1, and Amawbia United Football Academy lost 0-2 to De Wilson FC, Okpuno.

In other matches, Ozalla Football Academy, Obosi refused the stars of the Rising Stars FC, Obosi to shine with a humiliating defeat of 10-0. Bright Stars FC, Umueri defeated Ike Okoli FC, Akpugoeze 1-0.

Two clubs, Uncle Ralph FC, Isuaniocha and Young Africa Football Academy, Enugwu- Agidi who garnered zero points from the group matches failed to honor their last group match.

As the competition awaits the fixtures for the round of sixteen, the following are the qaulifiers; World Football Academy, Grassroots Sports Academy, DOSKADEK Football Academy, YSG FC, Hopeland FC, Peace FC and Chukwudinigbo FC.

Others are De Wilson FC, Amawbia United FC, Ozalla Football Academy, Bright Stars FC, Precious FC and two best losers of Dynamic Sports Academy and Kingseed FC.

Speaking to Newspathfinder after one of the matches at the Center, the chairperson of YSFON Anambra state, Engr Akonam Obiefuna expressed satisfaction with the level organization of the tournament.

He was also impressed with the standard of play and array of budding talents in the tournament promising that Anambra YSFON will work hard to ensure that the discovered talents are properly monitored.

Some of the players he said will form part of the team to represent the state in various forthcoming national YSFON tournaments including the Chief of Naval Staff U14 Boys Championship scheduled for September.
