The Nigerian Academy of Medicine (NAMed) has conferred a fellowship award on the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Joseph Ikechebelu, for his immense contributions to the medical practice and teaching of medicine.
The fellowship award was on the occasion of the 2023 Annual Lecture and Induction Ceremony of the professional body held recently at the Reiz Continental Hotel Abuja with the theme, “Enhancing the Healthcare Workforce in Nigeria in the Presence of the Changing Demographics.”
Prof. Ikechebelu was among the twenty distinguished medical scholars to be conferred with the fellowship award by the President of the NAMed, Emeritus Professor Samuel Ohaegbulam, on behalf of the Board of Trustees and Council of the Academy.
Responding after the award, Prof. Ikechebelu, appreciated the honour done to him by his professional colleagues amongst many medical academics across the country.
The renowned fertility expert said the honour is a call to do more while promising not to relent in his contributions toward service to humanity and elevating the practice of medicine.
Prof. Ikechebelu is a Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgeon with over 200 scholarly publications in reputable national and international journals.
He is listed in the Scopus First 500 scholars in Nigeria and among the first 10 academics in UNIZIK based on article citations and publications.
