The Transition Committee Chairman, Awka South Local Government Area, Hon. Chief ThankGod Anagor, has held a Thanksgiving Service at St. Jude’s Anglican Church (Reconciliation Ground), Isiagu, to appreciate God for his appointment as the Chairman of the Local Government.

Hon. Anagor who assumed office after inauguration last month used the occasion to thank God for the upliftment to the post as a top administrator for the Local Government.

He also eulogized the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for giving him the opportunity to serve the state.

The Mayor assured that the mantle of leadership bestowed on him would be for the good of the state and in particular the local government.

“It’s a great honour and privilege to serve the state in this capacity, my promise and assurance to you is that I will ensure the local government becomes better than I have met it as I have served in the civil service for 35 years and retired as a Director,” he assured

Chief Anagor thanked his immediate family members and everyone who worked hard for him to be where he is today.

He called on all stakeholders and the inhabitants of the local government to pray for wisdom as well as give him the necessary support towards taking the local government to an accelerated level.

The officiating priest, Rev’d Canon Samuel Ginikanwa, in his sermon urged those appointed into positions of authority to use it for the good of the people and always showcase servant leadership.

Drawing inspiration from the scriptures in Job 14:7, Job 42:10 and Micah 7: 8-10, the clergy stated that Job despite the misfortune that befell him, kept faith and always believed in God to overcome the storm and he was rewarded as God uplifted him more.

Rev’d Ginikanwa urged the congregants to always put their trust and faith in God. He prayed God to give Hon. Anagor the wisdom and enablement to successfully carry out the duties of his office and urged him to ensure the dividend of democracy is felt in the local government.

Present at the thanksgiving service were the Member representing Awka South Constituency 2 at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwuma Okoye; TC Chairman Awka North LGA, Hon. Emmanuel Ucheze and Traditional Rulers of Isiagu and Ezinator.

Others are APGA National Legal Adviser who doubles as Honourable Commissioner for Utility, Hon. Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa; APGA State Deputy Chairman, Hon. Chief Tony Omeluigwe Eleh as well as a top APGA Stakeholder in Isiagu, Chief Udochukwu Nnebedum.

Also present are the Chairman of Eke Awka Main Market, Chief Jude Emeka Agummadu (Baby Awka) ably represented by Hon. Felicia Chinelo Okika (Former Special Adviser to the Governor on Transport); Hon.
