Abuja-based football manager and Water FC Chairman, Makanjuola Nureni Muhala (MK), has been recognized among Nigeria’s 100 Most Influential Personalities at the 2025 Progressive Awards.

Held at the Barcelona Hotel in Wuse 2, Abuja, the prestigious award ceremony honored MK’s exceptional contributions to grassroots football development in Nigeria.

Upon receiving the award, MK expressed gratitude and reaffirmed his commitment to evolving ideas that would further promote grassroots football in Nigeria.

“I want to sincerely return all glory to Almighty God and thank the Progressive Awards for recognizing my efforts,” he said. “This honor will further spur and motivate me to do even more for Nigerian sports, particularly football.”

MK’s recognition is a testament to his dedication to building grassroots football in Nigeria. As the founder of Water FC, he has created a platform that discovers, develops, and transforms young talents, impacting lives and communities.

Under his leadership, Water FC has grown into a powerhouse of youth football development, boasting modern training facilities, elite-level coaching, and a comprehensive scouting network.

The club’s success has had a ripple effect, stimulating local economies and providing opportunities for personal growth, education, and career advancement for thousands of young Nigerians. MK’s philanthropic efforts and mentorship have made him a respected figure in the football ecosystem.

“This award is not just for me,” MK added. “It’s for every young player out there with a dream and every coach who believes in the power of grassroots football. Together, we’re building the future.”
