The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA)  recently warned land-grabbers in Anambra State to stay away from all govt lands or be ready to face the repercussions and loss that accompanies such illegal development.

Speaking via live video during the demolition carried out at Agu Awka axis, the Director of Operations ACTDA, Mr Charles Ekwunife said that after receiving serious warnings from the agency and having his illegal structures demolished earlier this year, the developer still erected another perimeter fence round about the land.

He said that ACTDA usually receive complaints or petition from individuals and govt, saying that such complains are investigated with ministry of land and after gathering needed evidence, they give the grabber enough time to remove whatever structures or properties they may have on the land.

Ekwunife added, “We move to the site and carry out demolition if the perpetrator ignore our warnings.”

On his part, the MD/CEO of ACTDA, Mr Ossy Onuko warned that gone are the days when the state capital territory is littered with shanties and several buildings without approval.

He called on the residents of Awka to join hands with the governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo in his transformation agenda to finally give Awka the capital city status it deserves.
