Acting Chairman of the Abia State Football Association Rev Dr Obioma Onyeaghala has been elected the substantive Chairman of the Association following his massive victory at the Association’s quadrennial elective congress held today in Umuahia.
Dr Onyeaghala who had acted in that capacity following the demise of former Chairman, Sir Ephraim Chukuemeka, polled 16 of the available 23 votes to beat the other contestants although two of them had withdrawn before balloting commenced.
In the other elections, *Okechi Ubani* was returned unopposed as the Vice Chairman while the trio of Charles Nwokocha, John Offor and Ogwuru Chionye Stanley were elected as members representing the Abia North Senatoral Zone.
For the Abia Central Senatoral Zone, Godson Chibueze Eluwa and Israel Ohaja returned as its representatives whereas Kelechi Nnorom Orji and Oge Kam Kam Kalu were also re-elected to continue representing the Abia South Senatoral Zone in the nine-man Board whose tenure will expire in 2027.
In his acceptance speech, Rev Onyeaghala expressed gratitude to the delegates and all the other stakeholders for the confidence they reposed in him and promised that Abia football will witness a quantum lift under his administration.
Onyeaghala, who is the Proprietor of Umuahia based none league football outfit, Revo Prevailers, extended his hands of friendship to all those who could not realize their ambitions this time promising that he would keep his doors open for ideas that could lift the association to greater heights.
