The All Nigerian Football Players Union, ANFPU, is wholly committed to the ongoing peace process by the NFF reconciliation committee headed by Edo State Deputy Governor, His excellency, Hon comrade Philip Shaibu.
According to ANFPU general secretary, Mr Olisa Onuchukwu, the primary objective of the union is to project and protect the football careers of all Nigerian players around the world from grassroot to the highest level and as well set up and be supervising the well being of all Nigerian ex-players.
“However, in our sincere resolve to achieve these objectives by embracing peace leading to our commitment to NFF reconciliation committee as presently constituted, we shall never relinquish or concede our corporate image or statutory rights and obligations to any arrangements that begets the old order that has affected the well being of current and ex-players for over thirty wasteful years which can best be described as “disgruntled house in perpetual turmoil”
“This official statement from ANFPU emerged at the heels of several uncordinated, threatning and contradicting statements emanating from the stable of Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria, PFAN, credited differently to PFAN top shots Clement Temile, Emmanuel Babayaro and Tijani Babangida”, he said
According to Mr Onuchukwu, ANFPU, under the formidable leadership of former super eagles star, Abdul Sule, is a very well organized and peaceful union devoid of bickerings and wranglings.
“We are legitimately incorporated with a strong BOT of credible Nigerians, we are mutually opposed to crisis and abhours incensant litigations which is never the best way to achieve peace and progress.
As a well recognised players union and as enshrined in the status, we shall always operate within the ambit of our aims and objectives while at the same time complementing the efforts of Nigeria Football Federation”.
He said that the only road map to peace and progress as being presently proposed by the NFF reconciliation committee remains total annihilation of the “OLD ORDER” and emergence of a unified new brand for Nigerian Players Union as any attempt to coerce ANFPU into alligning with bedeviled and inglorious brand name will be resisted with the crest of efforts both humanly and legitimately possible.
