The Nigeria music industry is arguably one of the most improved industry in the world. The roles of Disc Jockey’s (DJ) can never be underplayed. in an exclusive interview with Newspathfinder, Undisputed Dj-Dickson spoke on his journey, successes achieved and other facts surrounding turn-table life.

Interview by Ifeanyi Okonkwo

“My name is Dickson Wekpe Junior, popularly known as “Undisputed DjDickson”. I am a Nigerian professional disc jockey, born on the 27th of August in Jos Plateau State. I am a record executive and media personality.

“I am one of the most traveled and experienced djs in Nigeria. I started at Dreams Night Club in jos in 2007 after going through several months of training from the prominent Dj Osai.

“The music industry is different now compared to when I started. It is better now because more companies and brands are investing and helping djs play more gigs at events and social functions.

“I am working on some music features with known and upcoming artist but is set to drop a mixtape this season in a couple of days (watch out).

“I started having the passion since my early days in secondary school. I grew up idolizing jazzy jeff an American Dj and also legendary DJ Jimmy Jatt Nigeria.

“In my opinion, Nigerian djs also need same if not more recognition as the musicians because there’s obviously no party without a DJ.

“In a couple of years, maybe months I hope to go on a tour in at least two continents including a few other countries in west Africa.

“My advice for upcoming Dj’s, be brave to try new things, be creative as a DJ and most importantly be consistent. Also pray more.

“As regards my hobbies, I love to chill and just vibe with music and my philosophy in life is to be positive regardless and be focused. Also being consistent with my craft.
