The Anambra state government has been called upon to implement the recommendations of White Paper on Ifite Nteje land issues in Nteje community in Oyi local government area.
The People of Nteje Community made the call during an interactive session with stakeholders in the area.
This, the community said, would help to reduce the lingering issues in the area and bring a lasting peace and development to the community.
Various groups including Ojiana, women, Youths, aged men and other leaders during the meeting resolved that the Implementation of the recommendations of the White Paper would go a long way to address the lingering problems hindering progress of their land.
The leader of the community, Chief Chidiebere Obika noted that the previous administration in Anambra state had set up a panel of enquiry with a view to ascertaining how best to solve the issues of land grabbing in the area which had causes several problems in the community.
He noted that the Committee which was headed by Ben Chiobi had submitted it’s findings and recommendations to the Chief Willie Obiano led administration before experation of it’s government.
Mr Obika while speaking for his people, called on the Professor Chukwuma Soludo administrationt to implimemt the recommendations of the panel to bring about lasting peace to the area.
The people also resolved and gave two weeks period to all sellers and patronizers of illicit and hard drugs in Nteje to leave the community or have themselves to blame.
According to the people , the activities of drug peddlers and their customers have continued to lead to several crimes and criminal activities in the area , hence the resolution to mandate them to vacate the town or face the full wrath of the law.
Nteje people also made a case for the state government to change the name of the Anambra Airport from Umueri to Nteje as their community donated seventy percent of the land where the airport is situated.
