NUJ Anambra Council Begins 2023 Press Week Activities, Visits Ophanage Homes, Donate Items, Cash

Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Anambra State Council on Saturday October 28th visited and

donated items and cash to Sickle Cell Orphanege Home, Agulu in Anaocha local government area and also Faith Community Children’s Home (Diocess of Awka, Anglican Communion).

Speaking at the Orphanege homes, the NUJ Press Week Committee Secretary, Comrade Chigozie Chukwuleta said the visit is part of the activities in celebrating the annual press week of the union.

She commended the Coordinator for her efforts in taking care of the children praying for Gods protection over them.

Receiving the gifts and cash, the national cordinator of Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder (APLSCD) Mrs. Aisha Edward-Maduagwu commended NUJ for always supporting the orphanage.

Mrs Maduagwu revealed that Anambra NUJ lead by Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu has always been the reason her voice is heard when ever the orphanege is in need.

She express gratitude to NUJ for there care and genarosity, urging the union not to compromise its standard in being the watchdog of the society.

The Sickle Cell cordinator urged journalists to more efforts on sensitazation on genotype education.

” The NUJ Anambra council has been our voice
and a platform through which we channel our demands. We will always be greatful for all the union has done and is still doing for the ophanage.

” Take the genotype education to anybody that cares to listen so as to reduce the number of sickle cell persons.

” The female genders who are desperate to marry should stop forging their genotype certificate”.

In appreciation, the administrator of Faith Community Children Home Awka Mrs Ifeyinwa Onuorah expressed gratitude to NUJ Anambra chapter for the care, prayers and donations. She prayed for Gods blessings, wisdom and guidance to all the members of the fourt estate of the realm.
