Plans for the second edition of the Akubudike Anambra State Football League are in full gear following a strategic meeting in Lagos between key stakeholders.
The meeting brought together the league’s sponsor, High Chief Jim Martin Nwabueze (Ichie Akubudike) and the Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi.
Both leaders agreed to build on the success of the maiden edition by delivering a more competitive and professionally run competition aimed at boosting grassroots football across Anambra State.
The Akubudike Anambra State Football League revived a state league that had been dormant for over 40 years. Since its return, it has provided a platform for young players, coaches, referees, and clubs, while rekindling football culture in the state.
In a show of collaboration, Chief Iloenyosi through a phone call informed Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Patrick Aghamba of the outcome of the meeting to reaffirm government’s role in the project.
The discussions emphasized stronger partnerships between the private sector, ANSFA, and the state government to ensure sustainability, talent discovery, and youth empowerment through sports.
With preparations underway, clubs and fans across the state are looking forward to another exciting season.
Organizers say the second edition will raise standards, discover new talents, and further position Anambra as a hub for grassroots football in Nigeria.
