UNIZIK Alumni Global President, Dr. Umeh Visits Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Ikechebelu

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Joseph  Ikechebelu, recently  hosted the newly elected Global President of the UNIZIK Alumni Association, Dr. Ikechukwu Umeh and his team at his office.

The interaction and strategic meeting was part of efforts by the current administration under the leadership of Prof. Ikechebelu towards engaging key stakeholders in advancing his vision for Nnamdi Azikiwe University in line with his hedgehog concept of HPS Squared and mission of ‘BLESSED UNIZIK.’

In his remarks, Dr. Umeh commended the Acting Vice-Chancellor for his leadership during a challenging period for the institution, particularly highlighting his efforts in digitizing university operations.

The Global President of UNIZIK Alumni Association who is the current Head, Department of Information Technology encouraged Prof. Ikechebelu to remain steadfast in fostering peace and the growth and development of the university.

On his part, the immediate past Global President, Engr. Emeka Nwafor, also emphasized the need for continued improvements in the academic transcript request and collection process, expressing hope for swift resolutions to existing challenges.

He thanked Prof. Ikechebelu for his vision geared towards taking the institution to a greater height in teaching, research, academic excellence and community service.

Responding, UNIZIK Ag. VC, Prof. Ikechebelu expressed gratitude for the Alumni Association’s support and urged them to adopt a “think-home” mentality by mobilizing resources for critical infrastructure development across the university’s campuses. Prof. Ikechebelu informed that the task of uplifting the image and name of the institution named after the Great ZIK of Africa is a task for all both staff and alumni of the institution.

Highpoints of the courtesy visit was the presentation of the Association’s proposed 2025 action plan.

Present with the Acting Vice-Chancellor during the visit were the Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies, Engr. Prof. Philomena K. Igbokwe and Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor (SAVC) on Academic Matters, Prof. Frederick J.C. Odibo.
