UNIZIK: Prof Arinze-Umeobi To Resume Monday As Acting Vice Chancellor

Professor Carol C. Arinze-Umobi will  on Monday, 19th May, 2025 resume duties as the Acting Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

The erudite family lawyer who is on a second missionary journey will pilot the affairs of the university in the next six months.

It will be recalled that the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University appointed Professor Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi as Acting Vice-Chancellor following the end of tenure of Professor Joseph I. Ikechebelu.

In a letter signed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Barrister Olugbenga M. Kukoyi, it reads “By virtue of Section 5(13) of the Act, your term of appointment shall not exceed a maximum period of six (6) months, or until a substantive Vice-Chancellor is appointed, whichever comes first”.

Senate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University on Friday nominated through election three Professors (Prof. Au Nkemdilim Nonyelu, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umeobi and Prof. Ada Sam-Omenyi) as possible replacement for the outgoing Acting Vice Chancellor.

The Governing Council from the three nominated candidates appointed Prof. Arinze-Umeobi as the Acting Vice Chancellor.
