The Aba Elephants, Enyimba Football Club in Owerri on Sunday secured a thrilling 3-1 victory over Heartland FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium with all three goals coming in a dramatic eight-minute spell.

Heartland FC initially took the lead in the 54th minute, with Suraj finding the back of the net to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.

Enyimba FC, however, responded with a flurry of goals. Substitute Ifeanyi Ihemekwele equalized in the 65th minute, setting the stage for a remarkable sequence of events.

Jephta Clinton then took control of the match, scoring twice within three minutes—once in the 70th minute and again in the 73rd minute. His decisive strikes ensured a 3-1 victory for Enyimba and a dramatic turnaround.

Enyimba’s coach, Yemi Olanrewaju, emphasized the importance of a strong start, stating, “It is important we start on a good note. 37 games more as this one is done and dusted.”

Looking ahead, Enyimba FC’s next challenge is a trip to Mali to face Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso in the CAF Confederation Cup 2nd preliminary round.

The team will look to build on their recent success as they continue their continental campaign.
