The Catholic Bishop of Bomadi Diocese, Most Rev. Hyacinth Egbebo has charged women to be retrospective about their lives from time to time so as to ascertain where they have failed and make amends.

Bishop Egbebo gave this charge during the Holy Mass to herald the Provincial Seminar of the Catholic Women Organisation of Nigeria, CWON , Benin Province held from 5th-8th September, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Patani, in Bomadi Diocese, Delta State, Nigeria.

According to Bishop Egbebo, women are created to nurture, cook, care, feed and raise humanity, pointing out that love is the reason a woman spends all she has for her children, hence women should be appreciated.

Continuing, “whether you are praised or not, you should appreciate yourself. Without the gift of motherhood, life will be meaningless”.

The Bishop noted that God has equipped women to carry out many tasks simultaneously to make their homes liveable, adding that only lazy idiots fight their wives.

At the ceremony after mass, the chairman, Sir Daniel Ebimoghan commended the Catholic Women of Benin Province for gathering to fashion a positive path in their sacred duties, and prayed God to grant all the participants infinite mercy.

Earlier in her welcome address, the President CWON Benin Province, Dr. Mrs Christie Akako stated that the Provincial seminar was a platform for the women in the six Dioceses comprising Benin, Warri, Iselle-uku, Bomadi, Auchi and Uromi to interact spiritually through the Masses, communal prayers, and discussion of pertinent issues.

Dr. Akako noted that the CWONBEP has a mini Estate project of three bedroom and three one bedroom apartments in Benin City estimated at one hundred and fifty million Naira, which when completed will minimize contributions by the women and called for the support of all to actualize the project.

The CWON National President, Dame Mary Asibi Gonsum who graced the occasion in a remark, commended CWONBEP for their massive participation and unity of purpose, urging them to keep the CWO flag flying.

Contributing, the Benin provincial Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Barr. James Urien enjoined the mothers to think and act like Catholic mothers and be the best they can be as wives and mothers for a better society.

The 4-Day event featured Penitential Mass; Seminars on “Motherhood, a Call to Perform Our Supreme Sacred Vocation” by Rev. sr. Anthonia Ugheghele, SSH, represented by Rev. Sr. Veronica Odah, SSH, and “Sweet Mother, Product of Answering Our Sacred and Supreme Vocation to Motherhood”, by Prof. Omoriege; Presentation of Awards; Rosary Procession; Gala Night; Mother Mary’s Birthday, Thanksgiving Mass and presentation of gift to CWON National President, Dame Mary Asibi Gonsum.
