The Olive Charles Football Academy have continued to show their resolve to be on the front burner of youth football in Anambra state through stellar performances.

The Ogidi based Football Academy which has been doing exploits in youth football development began the year with a superb performance at the FA Chairman’s U-17 tournament where they had an unbeaten run to the final.

They announced their presence in the tournament with a 4-0 win over Uncle Ralph FC, sent home Dynamite FC with a 2-0 win in the round of 16, despatched Peace FC raining 5 goals against the hapless Awka based team in the quarter finals.

They moved into the finals of the tournament to be played against Anambra Rovers FA after a tough semi finals battle with De Wilson FC that ended 0-0 in regulation time and 5-4 on penalties.

The performance saw eleven of their players selected for Anambra U-17 team to represent the state in national tournament.

Over the weekend at the Awka City Stadium, players of Olive Charles Football Academy continued their trade of good football in Anambra State Football Association U-17 organized match by scoring all the goals in a 5-goal thriller.

This was coming barely one week after lifting the prestigious Bayern Munich Youth Cup Nigeria at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on 27th April, 2024.

At Enugu where they represented Anambra state, the team shone like a million stars recording only one draw against Enugu state and defeated Kano, Edo, and Lagos before humbling Abuja in the finals.

Following the quality of performance of the team, two players, Victor Marcel and captain of the team Emeka Obikwelu were selected to be part of Team Nigeria for Bayern World Youth Cup Finals coming up in October in Germany.

The performance of the players during the weekend game cannot go without a mention not necessarily because of the goals but quality of performance.

The Anambra state FA selected U-17 players were divided into two to play each other with five of Olive Charles Football Academy players in each of the team.

Victor Marcel, one of the players picked at Enugu by the Bayern Munich scouts opened the goal harvest scoring in the first half while Emeka Obikwelu who was also picked to represent Nigeria in Bayern Munich, equalized from a long range.

Uchenna Onoja who was part of team Nigeria that lifted the 2022 Bayern Munich Youths Cup finals in Germany scored 2 goals from Midfield while Tochukwu Ejima who was the captain of the Olive Charles Football Academy team that won the National trophy at Enugu got the last goal of the match leaving the score lines at 3 : 2.

The president of Olive Charles football Academy, Amb Charles Atuanya while speaking to Newspathfinder attributed the success of his team to (3 Dees) diligence, discipline and dedication.
