Ahead of todays rescheduled match day 13 encounter with Rivers United, Sporting Director of Enyimba International Football club of Aba, Ifeanyi Ekwueme has commended the club’s coaching crew and players for their doggedness and resilient which has earned the 9-time league champions a 3rd place finished in the first half of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL.
The former Nigeria Super Eagles attacking midfielder also gave kudos to the Gbenga Elegbeleye and Davidson Owumi leadership positive inputs on the league which he observed has given NPFL a positive face.
“The new leadership of the league has really helped improve officiating and insert discipline as well”.
“A better side can win anywhere as it stands. Enyimba lost at home to Remo Stars FC and Enyimba won three away matches defeating, Bayelsa United, Heartland FC as well Shooting Stars Sports Club this season. these are good omen for Nigeria soccer”.
“Match Officials, Club Officials as well fans who are found wanting are dealt with immediately. That is the way to go”.
The former Heartland Sporting Director also noted that Enyimba may have started slowly but because of clubs brilliant players recruitment they were able to bridge the gap between them and the top placed teams on the log.
He however commended the club Chairman and former Super Eagles Captain and double Africa footballer of the year, Amb. Kanu ‘Papilo’ Nwankwo for giving everyone free hand to do their job.
The People’s Elephant will today keep a date with the Pride of Rivers in a rescheduled Match-day 13 fixture against who currently occupies 14th position on the league table with 21 points after 16 game.
Baring any late changes from the IMC/NPFL, Enyimba are expected to return home to host 3SC of Ibadan February 4th in Aba when the second half of the league resumes.
