African Coaches Connect has condemned in strongest terms the recent reign of terror at Malumfashi Stadium in Katsina, during the NNL fixture between Sokoto United FC and the host, Malumfashi FC.
In the wake of the havoc reportedly wreaked by the volatile home fans, Coach Mansur Abdullahi was beaten to a pulp and bloodied.
ACC learnt that it took the quick intervention of the Katsina State FA and stadium officials to get manhandled coach to the hospital, where he was revived after treatment.
The Founder and President , African Coaches Connect, Coach Eldred Sunju-Abbey is calling on the leadership of the Nigerian Football Federation, NNL and other relevant authorities to investigate and mete out appropriate sanctions.
Eldred Sunju-Abbey explained that it is very important for the growth and development of African football for footballers, coaches, officials and fans to enjoy relative security and safety at match venues.
He reached out to Coach Mansur earlier and equally relayed ACC’s unreserved support, easy and speedy recovery wishes to him and his entire team members.
He added that situations such as the recent one in Malumfashi are boorish, uncouth, rearward and anti-progressive, and should not be found in football.
Coach Mansur Abdullahi is a respected top official of African Coaches Connect, the Assistant General Secretary of The Nigerian Football Coaches Association and a Nigerian National Team Coach.
