Benue FA boss Set To Immortalise Late Brother, Visits NSCDC

The Chairman of the Benue State Football Association (BSFA), Barr. Paul Edeh, has revealed plans to immortalise his late brother, Inspector Simon Edeh, who passed on while on his duty last month.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Commandant of the Nigeria Society and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Benue State Command in Makurdi, Barr. Edeh in company of his board members thanked the government para-military agency for its show of concern before and at the burial of his sibling.

Barr. Edeh, a football administrator per excellence said his family has among other things vowed to give the only daughter of the deceased the best of education and other forms of training in a bid to give her a solid life background.

Inspector Simon died around Daudu community along Lafia-Makurdi highway in Benue State and has since been buried.

As part of efforts to immortalise him, the FA boss who is also the President of Ratels Sports Development Foundation (RSDF), said, “I also came to inform you of a donation of a new sub-station which I built from scratch”

“I have already discussed with the Jos Distribution Company that the power project will be used to immortalise my immediate younger brother who died while in active service.

“The sub-station will the third one I will be building and donating to that part of the state. I had donated two in the past years.

“To further ensure that my brother’s legacy is not forgotten, I will be proposing a football tournament involving the military and para-military personnel. The competition which will be named after my brother as Inspector Simon Edeh Military and Para-military tournament will be dedicated to all personnel who died in active service

“Also, my Foundation RSDF will later enter discussion with NSCDC leadership on the possibility of coming up with a welfare plan for personnel which will also be named after Inspector Simon Edeh.”

Barr. Edeh further sought the support of NSCDC in protecting critical football facilities in Benue State as well as deployment of its men for security during competitions organised by BSFA, adding, “As a board, we will implore you to come up with inter football competition which the FA board will be ready support.”

Responding, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Yakubu Ibrahim, who commiserated with Edeh’s family, friends and colleagues over the demise of Inspector Simon, commended the late Corps personnel for his determination and resilience while alive.

He assured of the Corps’ readiness to partner BSFA and identify with Edeh’s family in its effort to immortalise their son.

Commandant Ibrahim the assured, “Honestly protecting Sports facilities and activities is our major area of concern. We are duty bound to ensure security presence at all competition venues as part of our core mandate.

“Due to the importance NSCDC attach to Sports development, we make it a point of duty to allocate sizeable portion of available vacancy to sports professionals anytime there are openings for employment opportunity.

While showering praises on the Benue FA Chairman for his steady societal impacts, the State Corps Commandant announced that already Barr. Edeh has undertaken to sink borehole that will guarantee steady flow of pipe borne water within NSCDC command headquartersi that has been without water since inception.
