Organizers of the Onitsha City Marathon took a bold step in the journey of a world class 2nd edition of the Race as they unveil premium partners.

The partners include Y&T Sports Management to serve as the Technical Partners of the event. It has former Nigeria and Olypic athlete and current Edo State Commissioner for Sports, Yusuf Ali as CEO.

To serve as the Marketing Partner is Global Link SEM Project. The GLS Project is a consultancy firm with an expert focus on sports and player management, brand activation, expert marketing and general business development. They are the marketing consultants of the Abuja International Marathon. GLS Project is owned by John Shittu, a renowned FIFA Licensed Players’ Agent.

Also unveiled is Afia TV which has the broadcast Rights until the next five editions of the race. The Afia TV has made a huge mark in the South East since inception through quality content. Afia TV has Emeka Mbah, a former DG of Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation, as the Chief Executive officer.

Speaking during a World Press Conference heralding the unveiling ceremony, the Director Onitsha Business School, Prof. Olusegun Sogbesan explained that choice of the partners was based on their competence and past records.

Prof Segbesan disclosed that unlike the 2019 edition, the 2023 edition is enjoying the full endorsement and backing of Anambra State government led by Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

The race which he said is aimed at putting Onitsha on the front burner of the sporting World will enjoy world class standard in all ramifications as his outfit is stopping at nothing in ensuring that it delivered a standard and successful Marathon race.
