A coalition of support groups clamouring for Peter Obi’s presidency come 2023 on Saturday shut down the city of Awka, Anambra State in a solidarity March for the Labour Party candidate, LP.

The over 30 groups which turned out in their numbers with both traditional metal gong music and hip pop music marched from Alex Ekwueme Square to the prison area in Amawbia where they diverted to Bishop Crowther school, down to works road area all the way back Ekwueme square.

The Solidarity March also done simultaneously in other southeast states was organised by the Coalition for Peter Obi (CPO), in conjunction with other support groupsļ

Some of the inscriptions rseen on the displayed banners read; “we are taking back our country, “from consumption to production, Obi-Datti for Presidency 2023″, Obi is the one to unify Nigeria”, “Peter Obi will create jobs and wealth for Nigerians”, “We are the structure.”

Others read: “Nigerians wake up and vote wisely”, “it is Peter Obi or Nothing”, “Go collect your PVC and Vote Obi-Datti”, “Peter Obi will rescue Nigeria”, among others

The lead Coordinator of CPO in the state, Mr Chidi Nzekwe said the rally was to sensitise residents on the need to be involved in electoral process to achieve desired change in the country.

He added, “We want to sensitise the people on the need to get their permanent voter cards (PVCs) and be well mobilised concerning voting ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“The crowd, especially the youths, that came out for this solidarity march today, is an indication that we need a disruptive system to drive good governance, and we believe Peter Obi is the right candidate.

“He is capable and competent to lead Nigeria to the promise land and we urge electorate to come out en masse and vote wisely for a better Nigeria.

“We also urge the electoral umpire to ensure they conduct a free, fair, transparent and credible general elections in 2023.”

On his part, Southeast Director on Mobilisation, CPO,, Mr CZ Mmaduabuchi, noted that the rally was aimed at creating awareness of Obi ahead of the 2023 general election and also to sensitise people on the party’s logo.

Mr. Peter Obi became the Labour Party’s candidate for the 2023 election in May of 2022 after leaving the People Democratic Party, PDP
