Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, on Wednesday, hosted the newly inaugurated leadership of Nasarawa United FC Supporters’ Club at the Conference Hall of the Ministry in Lafia.
In his address, the Commissioner appreciated the leadership for the visit and charged them to prove naysayers wrong by delivering on the mandate given to them.
“Thank you for the visit. While we wish you well in the task ahead, do not forget to identify and familiarise yourselves with the relevant stakeholders so your job can be made much easier.
“Aside the stipend you will get from the Government, you must also think outside the box to begin to generate funds to meet some of your needs.
“We want to see, not just a vibrant Supporters’ Club, but one which will be unique and the envy of the society.
“Already, you have your Constitution to guide your actions. Don’t forsake to consult it so you won’t derail from your responsibilities”, Yargwa advised.
Speaking earlier, Chairman of the Supporters’ Club, Mr Jibrin Ali ‘Baggio’ said the visit was to appreciate the Commissioner and the Ministry for reposing confidence in them and to also intimate him on the steps they are taking to rebrand the Supporters’ Club for better performance by the State-owned men’s football Club, Nasarawa United, as the new football league season approaches.
In their vote-of- thanks, Deputy Chairman of the Supporters’ Club, Mr Yakubu John, commended the Commissioner and Ministry for initiating numerous and transformative programmes aimed at developing youth and sports in the State, thanking him for granting them audience to discuss the way forward for football in the State.
He assured that the new leadership would do everything within its powers to support the Governor Abdullahi Sule administration to succeed.
Recall that the new leadership of the Nasarawa United Supporters’ Club was inaugurated on Thursday, 8th September, 2022, alongside the Supporters’ Club leadership of Nasarawa Amazons, the women’s football club, for a tenure of three years, at a ceremony held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry.
In a related development, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, on Wednesday, received, on courtesy call, the leadership of the Lafia All Stars Football Club at his office in Lafia.
Responding to the purpose of the visit, the Commissioner commended the leadership of the Club for their foresight and thanked them for honouring him with their presence, assuring that their requests would be given the desired attention by the appropriate authorities.
He called on them to galvanise support for the Governor Abdullahi Sule Government to achieve its goals and aspirations for the overall benefit of Nasarawa State.
According to the leader of delegation, Mr Isiaku Garba Jibrin, the rationale behind the visit was to appreciate the Commissioner for approving the appointment of one of their members, Jibrin Ali ‘Baggio’, as Chairman of the Nasarawa United Supporters’ Club, familiarise with him and to seek the Ministry’s support to enable them host the forthcoming Northern Nigeria Gamji Memorial Veterans’ Football Competition with the Nineteen(19) Northern States of Nigeria participating.
Also lending his voice, Chairman of Coaches’ Association, Nasarawa State Chapter, and member of the Lafia All Stars FC, Ibrahim Yahaya Sabo ‘Bagu’, he said the commitment of Governor Abdullahi Sule to sports development is unparalleled, stressing that one of the major priorities of the body is to see to the successful re-election of the Governor to enable him fulfill his beautiful agenda for the State.
He appreciated the gesture of the Commissioner and Ministry to Lafia All Stars FC, promising to reward the benevolence with all the needed support.
Souvenir balls crested with the portraits of Governor Abdullahi Sule were presented to the visitors in solidarity with their activities.
