The Management of Bayelsa Queens Football Club has expressed their profound gratitude, first to God Almighty for the victory at the WAFU-B qualifiers and qaulificcation for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

In a message of gratitude signed by the chairperson of the club, Pastor Robin Angonimi Apreala, the management team thanked the government of Bayelsa state for the massive support and the chairperson of NWFL Madam Aisha Falode for her love and commitment.

The message read,

“We also wish to say a very big ‘THANK YOU’ to the Bayelsa state Government led by Governor Douye Diri and his workaholics and dependable deputy Lawrence Ewhurudjakpo, for their unflinching support to Bayelsa Queens FC. Thank you Your Excellencies we at the club can not thank you enough”,

“The club also thank Madam Aisha Falode, for her personal love and commitment to making sure we succeed and special appreciation to COO, Mrs Modupe Shabi for staying and supporting the team from the very first day they (Bayelsa Queens) landed in Cote D’Ivoire, Mr Macathy and Ben we say thank you for your works”,

“Not forgetting all the club sides that wished us well and for your show of solidarity, thank you all”.

Bayelsa Queens  defeated their Ghanaian counterparts, Ampem Darkoa Ladies 3-0 in the final on Saturday 3rd September, 2022 at the Stade du Yammosoukro.

Enroute to the final the coach Domo Okara tutored side whipped hapless Benin Republic side, Espoire Ladies 6-0 while the Ghanaian side outscored the hosts, AS D’ Abidjan 6-5 on penalties after full time scores stood at one goal apiece.

The hard-fought victory ensured that the Yenagoa-based side will fly the seven-country sub-regional zone’s flag at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League (CAFWCL) in the North African state, Morocco in October.

Bayelsa Queens with the result become the second team from Nigeria to successfully campaign at the CAF Women Champions League after multiple champions, Rivers Angels achieved the enviable feat at the maiden edition in Egypt.
