The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Anambra State Command is set to collaborate with the Nigeria Immigration Service to stem the tide of illegal migration and human trafficking.
Mr. Isidore Chikere, the State Commandant made the declaration today during a visit to the Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service Mrs Ngozi Odikpo at the State Command Headquarters Awka as part of his tour to sister agencies in the State.
Mr. Chikere said the essence of his visit was to ensure sustainability and solidify the inter-agency cooperation and collaboration that has been existing between the two agencies.
He noted that Immigration Service and the NSCDC have a history of close collaboration in the fight against irregular migration and other forms of trans-border crimes expressing his desire to further consolidate the ties .
While acknowledging the need for better cooperation in view of the security challenges affecting the country at the moment, he called for concerted effort of all the security agencies for effective border security and management.
The State Comptroller of Immigration Service Mrs Ngozi Odikpo, in her response, after welcoming the State Commandant to the State, wished him a successful stay with indelible foot prints .
She promised the NSCDC state helmsman of her unwavering support and cooperation to achieve the desired result
Mrs. Odikpo equally used the opportunity to educate the State Commandant and his team on the enhanced electronic passport which makes an applicant not to require the services of third party to obtain passport.
The visit ended with a tour to passport processing office by the State Commandant.
